Our Story

Since 1940

Exporter License, Oct. 1948

The Moskowitz family has been importing cheese since the 1940s. We are experts in introducing product to the U.S. marketplace and managing its distribution. Adam’s grandfather Ben Moskowitz was one of the first to import cheese from France, England, Italy, Switzerland and Denmark. He literally pioneered Brie, Edam, Gruyere and Danish Blue to name a few.

Adam’s Father & Grandfather

Adam’s father was a market disruptor launching USA subsidiaries for Emmi, Champignon, Somerdale and Redondo Iglesias. But the concept of Maker to Monger was born when Adam Moskowitz took the reins as a third generation importer.

Today our commitment to top-shelf quality, service and education is unwavering. Adam’s team has successfully launched industry stalwarts like Challerhocker, 1655 Gruyere and Alp Blossom. We have accomplished this by working intimately with every aspect of the supply chain from maker to monger. This work includes: product selection, affinage strategy, marketing, packaging, promotions, education, merchandising, etc..

Our Mission is to source and share world-class cheese, to uphold the legacy of cheese making and to inspire the future of cheese making. Here’s how we do it:

  • We showcase innovative cheese makers who have broken out of the stereotype of their respective region.

  • We work diligently with farms and producers to expand the perspective of a traditional cheesemaking country.

  • We investing in the time it takes to educate our customers and partners about the products we represent.

  • We maintain a constant and consistent presence in every market of the United States.

Simply put, we only work with cheese from the old world that is simply out of this world—and we do it all because, we love cheese
