The story of the cooperative dairy Het Hinkelspel is one born out of rebellion. In an area surrounded by mass produced, factory cheese, three young men set out to do things differently. In 1983, partners Alexander, Jos, and Bart joined forces in a mission to create real cheese made from unadulterated raw milk and established a dairy in East Flanders. They quickly outgrew their original space and have since settled into a much larger dairy, producing cheeses only using organic milk since 2011.
Their production ranges from Goudas, to washed rinds, and even a blue cheese. The desire to be different and break the mold has worked for Het Hinkelspel, and we’re thrilled to be able to source from this unique Belgian producer.
